A while back, a friend of mine at church shared my blog with some people that she knows, and they wanted me to draw their grandson for them. I was happy to do it, and I’m really glad they’re enjoying it now! I may do more of their family in the future.
At North Greenville, for our landscape project we were able to go outside and paint en plein air. It was a lot of fun. We used mainly our palette knife to first mix the colours and then apply them straight onto the canvas. In this excercise we wanted to actually show texture and brush strokes, which also gave it a rather impressionistic approach.
And just like the previous still life project, the same concepts were used in these paintings where we mixed the complement of a colour to create the shadows and such. (See https://postleslodge.wordpress.com/2013/03/08/colour-oil-paintings/)
